Overview: While most of the nation is sweltering in record heat, many of us in the operations world are already in deep preparations for winter weather. Representatives from Cleveland, Denver and Edmonton will discuss the preparations they undertake to be ready for winter weather, specific areas of management and responsibilities, and the partnerships they depend on to keep their districts accessible and safe throughout the winter months.
Learning Objectives:
- Learn what types of products and equipment are useful for snow removal.
- Learn how other operations teams function during the winter months.
- Learn how to ensure communication and collaboration with city services and hold them accountable for areas of responsibility.

Puneeta McBryan
Executive Director, Downtown Business Association of Edmonton (Edmonton, AB)
Puneeta is the new Executive Director of the Downtown Business Association of Edmonton. Previously, she spent nine years as a marketing and communications consultant for public and private sector clients. Puneeta recently concluded a tenure on the Advertising Club of Edmonton Board of Directors, where she most recently served as President and Past President. She's also a new mom, having just reentered the workforce into a brand-new role and a dramatically changing world.
Vincent Martinez, AICP
Senior Manager of Downtown Operations, Downtown Denver Partnership (Denver, CO)
The Downtown Denver Partnership’s Senior Manager of Downtown Operations, Vincent Martinez, has a background in urban place management that spans both Colorado and Texas. Vince led Urban Main Street programs in Houston’s Market Square and San Antonio’s Southtown. He also served on the boards of the Texas Downtown Association and San Antonio’s Downtown Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone. Moving to Denver in 2006, Vince has had the opportunity to work with a number of communities throughout Colorado and has been an active participant with the International Downtown Association’s Top Issues Councils and Summit planning committees. In his current role, he oversees a budget of just over $5 million dedicated to clean and safe services along Denver’s 16th Street Mall and throughout Downtown Denver. Vince is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, earned his Masters of Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Colorado Denver and has a BA in History from Texas State University.
Ed Eckart
Senior VP of Operations for the Downtown Cleveland Alliance (Cleveland, OH)
Ed Eckart, Senior VP of Operations for the Downtown Cleveland Alliance, oversees the DCA Clean and Safe Program. He came to the Alliance with 38 years of prior experience with the City of Cleveland, holding positions such as Assistant Director of Public Safety and EMS Commissioner. During his career, Ed managed and implemented the $50 million National Special Security Grant Cleveland received to host the 2016 Republican National Convention. He is a lifelong Clevelander.
