Overview: In a hybrid era of virtual and physical, how can urban place management organizations showcase their assets and developments? Learn how the Downtown Center BID (DCBID) in Los Angeles developed a virtual tour platform to showcase the downtown real estate market, its most significant properties, public spaces, and development projects, to investors, developers, brokers, prospective commercial and residential tenants.
The DCBID offered a variety of popular in-person tours, including regular housing, office and retail tours but those were halted during the COVID-19 crisis. As a leading advocate for the ongoing revitalization of DTLA, it was important for the DCBID to continue providing information about the long-term viability and the enduring appeal of the DTLA market. Unable to do so with traditional in-person methods, the BID needed a new vehicle for promoting the future of downtown. The DTLA Virtual Tour was created on a platform with the ability to customize as needs arose, engage with other downtown sectors, and serve as a dynamic tool to use indefinitely.

As the Downtown Center Business Improvement District’s Executive Director, Nick Griffin spearheads the organization’s marketing, economic development and strategic initiatives, to attract companies, retailers, investors and residents to Downtown Los Angeles, one of the nation’s most dynamic urban centers.Prior to the DCBID, Nick spent more than 25 years in business development in the real estate, media and technology industries. Nick is a graduate of UCLA and holds an MBA from Ohio State University

As the leader of DCBID’s research program, Elan Shore provides businesses and real estate professionals with the practical information they need to flourish in Downtown LA. Prior to working in Downtown Los Angeles, Elan spent more than 10 years helping attract business and investment for the LA County Economic Development Corporation and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade in Toronto. Elan graduated from York University and holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations from the University of Toronto.
