2021 Webinar: Harnessing Housing as the New Engine for Downtown Renaissance (Nov 10)

The game has changed—housing is now THE opportunity for growth in our downtowns. The COVID-19 pandemic has hastened the trend toward hybrid work models, meaning that attracting jobs no longer means only developing office space, but rather a new balance of uses. Meanwhile, shifting demographics are also contributing to an emerging, unprecedented, demand for urban housing. Join us to learn how to leverage these trends to strengthen downtown’s knowledge economy, build demand for retail and other amenities, launch a new generation of downtown public realm, and strengthen downtown as their region’s common ground and primary generator for economic opportunity and equity.

Learning Objectives:
  • Understand how to encourage downtown housing development that enhances placemaking.
  • Explore options for creating new revenue streams for downtown organizations from downtown housing.
  • Gain a clearer understanding of the downtown housing market as well as how to predict future demand.
