Dr. Poland is a spatial and social scientist with over twenty-five years’ experience in land use planning, economic development, housing, and neighborhood investment. As a community strategist, Dr. Poland assists communities to compete for prosperity and investment though strategic market, planning, and governance interventions aimed at building community confidence, fostering pride in place, and growing market share. Hi consultancy has spanned 18 states and over 100 communities. Dr. Poland is a Visiting Associate Professor in Urban Studies, Graduate Studies at Trinity College, Hartford, CT. He earned his PhD from UCL (University College London), Department of Geography, Cities and Urbanization program. His doctoral research focused on urban ecology, ecological resilience, and how ecological metaphors and theory can help us understand urban space as complex adaptive systems. He is Managing Director, Urban Planning & Strategy, at Goman+York Property Advisors.
