Join this session and learn from three UPMO leaders who are gathering data and creating a benchmark for tracking development, investment, housing, and other areas of importance. These reports are used to better understand the current state of their downtowns and to help determine priorities and action steps. Learn how sharing the results can elevate your credibility and authority in your community and attract new investment.

Jeff Bray
Executive Director, Downtown Victoria Business Association (Victoria, BC)
Jeff Bray grew up in Vancouver, BC. After graduating from UBC, Bray embarked on a 13-year career with the British Columbia Government. In 2001, Bray was elected the MLA for Victoria-Beacon Hill. For eight years Jeff was the Manager of Government and Regulatory Affairs for Shaw in BC. Jeff is currently the Executive Director of the Downtown Victoria Business Association. Jeff is Co-Chair (along with the Victoria Mayor) for The Coalition to End Homelessness, President of the Former MLA Association of BC, Vice-Chair of the Royal BC Museum Foundation, Vice-President of the North Quadra Community Association.
Jason Mathis
CEO, St. Petersburg Downtown Partnership, St. Petersburg, Florida
Jason Mathis serves as the CEO of the Downtown Partnership in beautiful St. Petersburg, Florida. Jason has a long history of success in nonprofit management and urban development. In addition to his work with the Partnership, Jason also serves in board leadership positions at the St. Petersburg Innovation District and The St. Pete Group. Jason is part of the St. Petersburg cohort for the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative focused on equitable redevelopment of Tropicana Field. Jason has also served on the St. Petersburg Grow Smarter Steering Committee and was a member of the original Emerging Leaders Fellowship program with the International Downtown Association. In 2013, Jason was named a White House Champion of Change by President Obama for the Utah Compact, a family-focused, business-friendly approach to immigration reform.
Jason Ilstrup
President, Downtown Madison Inc., Madison, Wisconsin
Jason Ilstrup is the president of Downtown Madison, Inc. (DMI), a member-based non-profit working to create a vibrant and equitable downtown where everyone feels welcome. Along with his role at DMI, he currently serves on several local boards including the Madison Area Sports Commission, the Dane County Airport Commission, the City/County Homeless Issues Committee, the Neighborhood House, the Friends of the Lake Monona Waterfront, the Wisconsin Innovation Awards and the University of Wisconsin Student Union Advisory Board.
