When people say that I’m “certifiable” for working in the urban space management industry, I agree with them. Thanks to the International Downtown Association’s newly created certification program for Leadership in Place Management (LPM), I am certifiable.
This certification recognizes place management professionals like you who demonstrate the knowledge and skills to manage and lead a place management organization. The goal of the certification program is to provide LPM professionals with the ability to demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of the place management profession while also maintaining a commitment to ethical conduct and personal and professional growth.
I recently took the exam, and I am proud to say that I passed! It is a challenging process, but I recommend that all of you engage in it because I am confident that you know your stuff, and it is always nice to have the documentation to back it up. #FACTS.
IDA has provided helpful educational resources to make the process easier. Check out the IDA Knowledge Center to view presentations and case studies that highlight best practices within our areas of expertise and learn from your fellow place managers.
Please do not shy away from this opportunity to prove to yourself and the world that you are a leader in your field. It will help you in your career and give you something to brag about at your next family dinner.
You can learn more about the LPM certification, including eligibility requirements, how to apply and which subjects will be included on the exam, by signing up for an IDA webinar on December 1, 2021 at 3:00pm ET. Register now! Or visit, www.downtown.org/certification
Applications are open from January 4, 2022 to February 28, 2022, with exams in May 2022.
