Overview: Each year the U.S. federal government disburses nearly a trillion dollars in grants for a range of programs – including many that benefit downtowns and city centers. Whether it’s money for public safety, housing, transportation or business development, federal grants present a potential source of revenue. Join us for an interactive session focused on learning how UPMOs can apply for U.S. federal funding, weighing the costs and benefits of receiving federal grants and how you can partner with your city and other civic groups to maximize your chances of securing financial support for your projects.
Learning Objectives:
- Learn how the U.S. federal grantmaking process works, including federal agency grants and congressionally directed spending.Â
- Gain insights into the factors you need to consider before applying for grants.Â
- Understand the strategies and tactics that help make receiving grants more likely.Â
- Find out how recent policy shifts could affect the grantmaking process.Â
