Tampa’s Bright Future

LYNDA REMUND, SHRM-CP
PRESIDENT & CEO, TAMPA DOWNTOWN PARTNERSHIP

As a city on the rise, Tampa has been molded by countless people, businesses, and cultures. The city’s development, which dates back to the 1820s, has profoundly impacted the Downtown district as the heart of the region.  Present-day revitalization welcomes a growing population with Florida’s largest port, championship sports teams, vibrant arts and culture institutions, thriving businesses, and iconic waterfront spaces.

Tampa’s Downtown is home to revolutionary development projects.  Our current and past Mayors led a monumental effort to establish the Tampa Riverwalk, a 2.6-mile linear public space that has positively impacted Downtown for generations to come.  Private sector leaders, such as Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik, have successfully bet on Tampa by investing and developing the new $3 billion dollar Water Street neighborhood.  Our trophy-winning sports teams have created community pride and immeasurable economic impact and exposure to the nation.

Like any great city, Tampa is diverse, resilient, passionate, creative, and growing!  The sandy streets of 19th century Tampa have given way to gleaming towers and waterfront views.

Over the last two years, we’ve worked diligently alongside the IDA team to bring you exciting pre-conference tours, locally and nationally recognized Master Talk speakers, and innovative breakout sessions.  Tampa’s rich history and bright future make it the perfect backdrop for collaboration and learning as we navigate our districts through the challenging past year and move forward into this decade of modern momentum.
